Question by Zaymee: Diet pills or supplements (not looking for a miracle pill)?
Hi. Let me first say, I am not asking for “miracle pill” to help lose weight. I know I have to work at it myself too. I am working out 5 days a week and trying to eat right (I don’t eat perfect, but I am getting better!). Is there something anyone can reccommed that will help boost weight loss? Something that really works? I am all ears!

I would go with supplements. Eat a well balanced diet, that means portion control, fruits and vegetables, plenty of protein. Whatever you are not getting in your diet you can buy a supplement for. You’ll find the better you eat, the less the need for supplements. A diet pill will only make you shakey and is a quick fix. You can’t be on diet pills your whole life. But, a well balanced diet, a piece of cake! Well maybe not cake. Good luck!

  1. Diet pills really are not the way to go, because they either suppress your appetite or speed up your metabolism. Once you stop taking them, it’s back to normal appetite and metabolism. You probably won’t like this, but as in the story of the tortoise and the hare, “Slow and steady wins the race.” Weight loss is really about lifestyle changes, not about a diet, and it sounds like you are doing pretty good that way. Of course, the more fruits and veggies you eat the better, since they are low in calories and generally low in fat.

    Good luck!

  2. More protein. less carbs (although don’t cut them out.) Eat smaller portions more times throughout the day to keep your metabolism up. When you do the aerobic part of your exercise, increase the intensity one minute at a time and then on the 5th minute go back down to the start and repeat, for twenty minutes. Don’t do long workouts, it wastes time because you do not effectively burn fat. Be sure to include some weight training. Muscle makes you burn fat faster and for the long haul. Treat yourself once in a while (like once a week) with something you’ve been craving… even if it’s double chocolate fudge and whipped cream. Then get right back on the healthy food the next day. That’s what I do and it workks.
