Question by : Does anyone know of a Kong stuffing recipe that is “people food” free?
I am 13 and my dog, Eowyn, is a rescue lab of about 40-50 pounds. Several weeks ago, my brother and I both chipped in to buy Eowyn a stuff able toy called a “Chuckle” from Cabela’s. It works on the same concept as a Kong, so Kong stuffing would work in it. Unfortunately, my mother has outlawed giving Eowyn people food; no peanut butter, bread, honey, meat etc. I’ve been putting in just plain “Science Diet” puppy chow, but it really just falls out. I need to find a recipe for “people food” free Kong stuffing, Does anyone have one they would share?

Why? Ur mother is just being difficult, a great recipe I use is, peanut butter with oat meal. Oat meal is good for u as well as ur dog, it helps their teeth and coat.

What about finding other stuff for the dog to chew? I find that most dogs don’t need that stuff. I find that it’s much better to exercise the dog well, vs feed it to keep it entertained.
Uh, then you are limited to dog treats that you have to buy. Kong makes a Kong stuffing and treats that fit inside, but in my opinion, are along the same likes as candy for kids. I would much rather fill a kong with lean meats, yogurt, peanut butter, cheese and other foods like that than give my dogs over processed, additive filled over priced junk.
My idea of “people” food is processed food with added salt, fat, sugar, preservatives, etc. I see nothing wrong with feeding natural food, like apples, peanut butter (I eat all natural PB so nothing added, just ground peanuts), meat, etc.
You can also look at liver treats and such at the pet stores. They are a little flexible so you should be able to mostly block the hole with the liver treat to keep in the kibble. It will also make your dog work harder to get the food out, keeping him occupied longer.
NO MEAT! WTH, DOGS NEED MEAT!!! The best food to give a dog is raw meat with rice, it is by far the healthiest. It may be expensive to buy the meat but in the longtime it is cheaper, cheaper vet bills and less visits. JUST GIVE YOUR DOG RAW MEAT!
